On a day-to-day basis, pharmacists are required to carry out checks and calculations on prescriptions and medicines information queries they may receive. These calculations can vary greatly in difficulty and can often require referral to reference material. They are also a vital component in ensuring patient safety.

The aim of this course is to revise common medicine-related calculations and to provide the opportunity to practise calculations across a broad range of scenarios.

This module will describe each feeding issue and the specially adapted milk to support parents where a baby is not being breastfed.

Common feeding issues that babies may experience include colic, reflux and regurgitation. The Health Service Executive (HSE) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months. If breastfeeding is not possible, a range of specialist milks are available to help alleviate the distress caused to babies who experience these feeding issues.

Vaccination is one of the most successful public health interventions. As a trusted source of healthcare advice and information, community pharmacists play a key role in driving vaccine acceptance. This module provides information on vaccine hesitancy and practical clinical guidance for addressing it.
